Here's a phrase I never thought I'd say

Some neighbors have three relatively new additions to their family. The cows -- two black ones and a brown one -- are adorable and are as yet unnamed by me. I'm waiting for their personalities to emerge before bestowing just the right monikers.

When we left Woodhaven this morning, we noticed the brown cow was wearing something. He looked mostly resigned, a touch embarrassed, and a whole lot of hopeful as we stopped our car, assessing the situation as the windshield wipers swooshed back and forth. Deciding we needed to do something to help, we drove up to the neighbors' barn. I hopped out of the car and trotted to where I spotted one of the sons, calling out:

"Excuse me! Your cow has a bucket on its face."

Fortunately, the son was right on it. I guess the green bucket was hard to miss, even from inside the house. Poor thing apparently had been rather enthusiastic about his breakfast (the cow, not the son). Assured the situation was under control, we smiled at Bucket Cow as we backed out of the driveway and resumed our morning.

Stay tuned as we await suitable names for the two black cows.
