It’s definitely a sign of boondock living when all of your trick-or-treaters arrive by car. And when I say “all,” I mean all three.
Two princesses arrived in one chariot (disguised as a Honda Element) and a witch flew in on a car seat in her warlock’s Chevy. Barely pushing 5 at the oldest, they were all adorable as they tried to figure out what they were supposed to do once I opened the pumpkin-flanked door. They had each only had the barest of practice, Woodhaven being their second and final stop of the evening.
Having learned in prior years not to expect even a handful of hobgoblins, we stock pretty nifty treats for the tricksters who venture our way. I always buy just a little more than I probably should just in case word gets out that we have full-sized Hershey bars and bags of M&Ms. So far we only seem to be attracting more parents.
I spent a little time today dismantling my decorations. I still have to put away the witch and ghost silhouettes, the skull-covered black wreath with LED lights, and the four suspended handkerchief ghosts and accompanying black-light. I’m eagerly awaiting the year we legitimately anticipate six or more trick-or-treaters so I can really go nuts with hay bales and scarecrows and lighted lawn ornaments. The good news is the witch has a new baby sister, so in just a few years we'll be up to 4!

Boondocks vs. Suburbs
Our girls netted 3.5 pounds EACH during the trick-or-treat festivities...
If you felt a little 2.4 temblor, that was my jaw dropping. OMG!
Did they get anything good??
Hay bales!??! Scarecrows!??!
Yeeesh. Imagine what she'd try to get me to do if we had a dozen trick-or-treaters!
No full sized candy bars if that's what you're wondering! It was just the streets in our neighborhood. We didn't have as many trick-or-treaters this year and I suspect everyone was handing out handfuls of candy to just be rid of it! (I know I was)
Most of it will be donated to the Blue Star Moms and will be heading to the troops.
