We were wandering around Albertsons the other day, buying food stuffs for last weekend's Super Bowl. As we passed the Seafood Marketplace, two men caught my eye. One was wearing full hunting-style camo -- shirt, jacket, pants, and hat. The other was wearing a Davy Crockett-style coonskin cap, complete with fuzzy tail. Although we often see Rural Fashion in town, I have to admit these guys stood out more than the average local. And yes, I realize I said camo instead of camouflage. What can I say, I’m assimilating.
Later, at home, Rob and I watched two episodes of what Rob has now deemed The Greatest Show on Television. Thanks to an alert from brother Rick, we are now Tivo-ing all 6 episodes of CMT’s “My Big Redneck Wedding,” hosted by Tom Arnold. Included in the two viewings so far: an auction at the reception (in my opinion much more lively and inclusive than a Money Dance); acquisition of a wedding-eve Wrangler tattoo as a gift to the bride; a reception chow-line featuring a choice between chicken or squirrel; a western saloon-style wedding dress rented from a costume store; and pieces of wedding cake in the shape of horse manure. You've got rednecks -- we've got cougers!! My current favorite is Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Orange County" love, love, love it! And couger sightings aren't limited to the O.C. -- we've got them here too -- just come to a PTA meeting!!!
We've got cougars, too!! There's even a town called Cougar not far from us. They have a bronze statue and everything. Our neighbor told us a few years ago that he saw a cougar on our driveway early one morning. We looked for tracks or droppings but didn't find any.
Oh. Wait.
Never mind.
