More of an explanation than an excuse, I think

Yikes. I just happened by my blog to give the link to someone and realized I haven’t posted anything in nearly a month. Holy cow! I knew it had been awhile but I was thinking it had been maybe a few weeks? What in the world have I been doing?

Consulting my calendar, since June 1 I have:

  • Hosted two rounds of house guests for a total of 12 days
  • Spent 6 days and counting in Hermit Mode Lite to let my back recover from those 12 extraordinarily fun days (I should have been in Hermit Mode Heavy but, well, there’s this list)
  • Walked 4 miles in a parade with llamas
  • Read the 197 page PDF owner’s manual for a newly replaced camera. Much to my delight, I learned on page 81 that it has a Food Mode. And it’s awesome! Stay tuned for even better Fair Food Feast Fotos!
  • So far ignored the owner’s manual for a newly replaced sewing machine
  • Attended 2 graduations and 1 "I'm Not Graduating!" party
  • Assembled 3 photo albums. God bless Snapfish and Shutterfly.
  • Made 6 trips to/from the airport
  • Arranged for the repair of a chipped windshield and a chipped front tooth...presumably from different causes as I didn’t see any cobs of corn flying at the windshield as we were driving on the highway.
  • Immersed myself in the riveting details of non-profit payroll taxes and reporting for my soon-to-be new job as our church’s treasurer
  • Reviewed equally riveting legal documents making sure Rob doesn’t freak out if I die first. If he dies first, I will freak out regardless of Paragraph 6.1.1.
  • Was a Concerned Citizen at a special meeting called by the local school district involving suspiciously quick changes to some school boundaries. Ok, fine, I was annoyed by the rumored idea of 18 daily school buses impeding my zipping about September through June.
  • Hung out with a llama at a high school and a summer camp
  • Painstakingly narrowed down just about every color swatch Sherwin Williams has to offer to finally decide on the exterior paint colors for our Summer Project with Dave the Painter next month. Blessedly and wisely, Rob agreed that a Dover White base with Dried Thyme trim and a Rosemary front door will look smashing on our “farm house on steroids.”
  • Enjoyed tea, coffee, frozen yogurt, dinner, walks, and wonderful chats with various friends
So it's moments like these, when I actually sit down (or, lay down on the couch with my laptop, as the case may be) and review my activities that I remember a few things. Like, no wonder my back hurts pretty much all the time. And, when the heck did I ever have time to work? And, wow, I am so very grateful that despite my pain and annoying physical limitations, I am fully participating in my life and squeezing as much out of it as I can. Including resting.

Thanks, Carol! I'm looking forward to the Fair, too! What's on your food list? I want to make sure I don't miss anything. :-)
