YAY FAIR!! ~ Day 6

Wow, it's amazing what some good, solid sleep can do.  We didn't get to the Fair until about 2:30pm today but I felt like a new woman.  A new woman who was hungry again.  Hallelujah!

We decided to take things slower today, so we watched a few shows and wandered around the Exhibit Hall to look at all the booths selling stuff.  Rob made a hole-in-one and got entered in a drawing to win some free rounds at a local golf course.  I bought some jewelry cleaner. We didn't buy any hair chalk, new brooms, or hotel-quality bed sheets.  I ate a few free samples along the way and totally amused myself by seeing how many free pens I could acquire.  Here's my stash:

Rob also realized a little too late that he forgot his baseball hat on our kitchen table.  We weren't about to turn around and go home -- I was hungry, for goodness sake's -- so we decided to see if we could find one at the Fair.  Opting against hats advertising various branches of the military, Jesus, guns, and Native Americans (interesting selection, no?), we finally spotted The (Nearly) Perfect Hat.  A perfect one would have said "SHERPA." Nevertheless, I think this "STAFF" hat is my new favorite Rob hat.  I am already getting a huge kick out of people asking Rob who he is the staff for and seeing their reaction when he points at me.

Jerry Harris the Hypnotist rocks!  We caught yet another show by our favorite hypnotist (tonight was the third show we've seen so far this year).  We love Jerry!

Tonight's show featured an hysterical Justin Bieber concert, complete with back-up singers and very excited fans, including one cool dude whose friends will probably never let him live down the fact that he was quite an awed Belieber tonight.

There was also a '70s disco dance performance featuring John Travolta and back-up dancers. The young guy who thought he was John Travolta did his best to dance a la Saturday Night Fever even though there's a chance not even his parents remember when that craze was taking over the country. I nearly fell off my chair laughing when I realized our John Travolta, having exhausted his disco repertoire, was doing dance moves from "Pulp Fiction." Another few minutes and we might have gotten some Greased Lightning moves. Wow, how many movies has John Travolta danced in anyway?

Although Adam the Great was pretty good, Rob was great. We stuck around after Jerry's show to watch a magician act. Adam the Great was pretty funny, with some jokes aimed at both kids and adults. His slight-of-hand tricks were pretty impressive, especially given the fact we were  sitting in the second row and had a great view of what he was doing. My favorite part of the show, though, was when he called Rob up on stage. If you know Rob, you know a stage is the last place he wants to be. But Rob did a fantastic job; I was very proud of him. I am also grateful that Adam is indeed a Great Magician and knew how not to actually saw off Rob's left hand.  We need that hand!

Fair Food Feast Parade!  Today was a much better day food-wise. Even though we were only at the Fairgrounds for about 7 hours today, I am happy with my consumption. My pedometer says I walked 2.80 miles. No Pepto or Tums today but two new zits appeared on my forehead. Lovely.

First up:  Irish Sundae with The Works.  I never order The Works in real life.  Baked potato with butter, cheese, sausage, bacon, sour cream, and chives.  Y. U. M.

Oh, corn, why are you so delicious?

Frozen pink lemonade hit the spot.  It was hot in the Food Court today!
Free sample of Ghost Pepper beef jerky.

The moment the heat of the Ghost Pepper hit me.  It was so good, I had a second piece.

Free sample of a "healthy" popcorn.  It tasted like a Cheese Puff.  Not bad but not worth buying either.

Mixed Berry Pie.  Blackberry, marionberry, blueberry.  SO GOOD!

Dive Show Hawaiian Ice:  Cinnamon and Pineapple.  Very tasty!

Pastrami sandwich from the Church Ladies Pie booth.  It was really good!  It tasted fresh and homemade.  AND it came with potato chips that I actually ate.  I never eat potato chips in real life.

The first treat from Sweet Cheeks that I didn't like.  It was a deep fried banana.  The banana tasted green and was too mushy.  I ate about half and then eyed Rob's deep fried chocolate chip cookie dough to get the banana taste out of my mouth.  Never fear, I will return with a different fried goodie tomorrow!  Not ever trying that salad place again, though.
