FUN:
- Mutton Bustin' - WAY fun annual event. It's little kids (with helmets) riding sheep. Sort of a precursor to bull riding. Kids range from 4 years old to about 9 and have to be under weight and height limits. It's a good thing we don't have kids; I'd be mutton bustin' vicariously through 'em if I had 'em.
- Bull riding - another annual favorite. Sure wish the grandstands had padded seats...
- Market steer judging - we watched 3 classes of steers get judged for market sale. All looked very pretty and sturdy. The judge made frequent reference to how the steers would eventually look "on the rail." We're not sure exactly what that meant and were too ooked out to ask.
- Llots of llovely llamas
- A couple baby alpacas
- A 3 week old black goat
- German chicken sandwich (the sandwich was German; I'm pretty sure the chicken was 'Merican)
- Diet Pepsi (shared 2)
- Chocolate ice cream
- Frozen raspberry lemonade
- Red rope licorice
- Pad Thai noodles
- Elephant ear (glorious fried dough smothered in butter, sugar, and cinnamon) (shared 2)
- Corn on the cob
- 1 marinated olive sample (I've learned the free toothpick is handy after corn consumption)
- 3 marinated garlic samples

What's on a German chicken sandwich?
Cara (getting hungry now)
The sandwich is officially called a Döner which apparently is a fast-food item in Germany. Mine was grilled chicken seasoned with garlic with lettuce, tomatoes and red onions piled into a toasted ciabatta bread pita pocket. There was some special “haus” dressing that was lightly creamy with a hint of herbs and then the top was sprinkled with paprika or something similar. It was quite tasty! The concession has a restaurant in Vancouver, so come visit and we'll take you there!
Interesting!
Got back from Nice recently (and ate a lot of foreign food while there) so I'm currently curious about European food!
