It’s just WRONG!

What March 27 is supposed to look like. And does, finally.

Looking out the windows at Woodhaven right now, you’d never know what we woke up to this morning. Apparently for the first time since 1951, it was snowing this morning in the Portland metro. Yes, SNOWING. On March 27! It’s just wrong. So, snow wrong.

I’m pretty sure the last time I saw snow on March 27 was when I was a kid living in Montana. And this is why we wisely moved to California. In Montana – or Minneapolis or Omaha – you might expect snow in March. Me, at Woodhaven, not so much.

In March, I expect to start shaving my legs daily again to be ready for the opportunity to wear shorts. I expect to get all achy and sore from being out in the sunny garden. I expect to have immediate use for all the spring and summer fashions appearing in Fred Meyer. I don’t expect to have to wonder if I can get to the gym due to snow. I don’t expect to pass a snow plow on my way into town. I don’t expect to see school buses on snow routes.

But, there is a silver lining to everything. I really loved seeing our blossoming plum tree dusted with snow. A few moments later, when Rob got the newspaper, he hustled back into the house to grab the camera. There, out in our pasture was a bunny taking refuge under a tree, with a snow-backed Murray gazing on. Two silver linings on a snowy March day!
