10,520,640 minutes. How do you measure, measure a marriage?

Twenty years?  Really??  I remember with striking clarity when people who had been married for 20 years were old.  Old and whining that they didn't feel old.  And guess what?  Here we are.  Just as young, if not slightly more padded, as we were on December 3, 1990 when Rob and I stood in an office in San Francisco and took the most important vows of our lives.

It's hard to grasp that we have been married for two decades.  It is even harder to remember being an adult without Rob.  Since we were just 22 and 24 as we stood before the judge, I suppose I never really have been a grown-up without Rob by my side.  I truly have grown up with him...and am having a blast growing old with him.  In the past 20 years together, Rob and I have had ups, we have had downs, we have had:

4 addresses
3 cats
10 jobs
1 lay-off
7 cars
1 joint email address
7 family funerals
11 family weddings
4 nieces and nephews born
12 nights in the hospital
3 trips to the emergency room
24 trips to Yosemite
10 trips to the Oregon coast
2 broken furnaces
1 case of chicken pox
3 disaster vacations that became great stories
384,964 miles flown on United Airlines
4 photo albums featuring a stuffed animal
6 babies we remember being born that can now drive
3 flat tires
4 US Presidents
4 vacuum cleaners
3 hosts of the “Tonight Show”
8 phone numbers
1 lost wedding ring
10 years of marriage before I changed my last name
9 months of dating
5 guests at our wedding
1 interruption by the judge’s ringing phone during our wedding ceremony

And endless number of times I have been grateful to be married to my best friend. He is caring, generous, kind, brilliant, sexy, hilarious, and patient. He is my partner, he is my protector, he is my hero, he is my man. I am by far the luckiest.

This was beautiful, and it is so nice how I have seen you both speak of one another. You are both very humble, yet honor each other in the greatest of ways. I loved this and congratulations!
