One of the unexpected joys of the snow last week -- and I honestly mean joys; we had a ton of fun! -- was driving around and seeing snowpeople. Snowmen, snowwomen, snowcouples. All varieties of snow visitors.
Only one of our neighbors had a snowperson. I think it was a girl-type. It had a snowcone hat that looked like a birthday hat or an "I Dream of Jeannie" hat or princess hat without the flowy veil. When I saw her again last night, she had lost a little weight.
One of my favorites was in a yard down in town. The snowman was in the front yard with a Webber on his left. He had a grill fork in his left hand and a beer can in his right hand. We think it was Old Milwaukee. A friend topped that one with a sighting of a snowman next to a BBQ, this time with marshmallows skewered tree-branch hands. No word if graham crackers and Hershey bars were nearby. The friend also told of an under-construction snow giant in an elementary school field. At the time of the sighting, a contingent of grade schoolers was climbing up the snowman to attach his head. Reported estimated height of the snow giant was 12 feet.
The snow creation that made me laugh the most, though, was spotted down in town. We were in our car, driving around, getting some snow driving practice (yeah, we were a little stir crazy, is it obvious?). Passing us to the west was a pickup truck with a snowcouple riding upright in the bed. They were an adorable couple and stood at least head and shoulders above the cab of the truck. They both had huge smiles and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying their afternoon escape from captivity, too.
