Someone left the cake out in the rain

Never in my life did I think the lyrics to MacArthur Park would make any sense whatsoever. And then, last night, this happened:

Yes, that’s a piece of cake in the bottom right corner. And yes, that’s a rainbow so, yes, it was raining. And no, we didn’t plan any of this.

OK, so Rob was craving cake last week so we found a “better eat it now cuz it’s already past its prime” white cake with balloons of frosting in the day-old discount section of Albertson’s bakery. Between us and a friend, we managed to eat all of the cake except one piece before we had to concede it was truly past its expiration date. Since we live in the country and have lots of critters roaming about our yard, we often toss old food down the hill instead of letting it rot in our garbage (we’re on a septic so our garbage disposal isn’t an option).

Maybe *this* is why we can’t seem to get rid of the deer?

Anyway, since we’re four days from Trash Day, Rob put the last piece of cake outside, certain some deer or rabbits or at least the crows would find it. And then, about an hour later, it started to rain, bringing that Donna Summer classic to unexpected life.

No signs as yet, thankfully, of any sweet green icing flowing down...

Oh, and per the June 18 post, the photo was taken at 8:39pm.
