I have to admit, I've never really eaten fair food in such a sustained manner before. Sure, one or two cotton candy laden visits is one thing. But this was the first time I visited a county fair five times over the course of a week. To be honest, my system is now begging for salads and my jeans are a little snugger than I'd like. It's any wonder I fit into any of my clothes as I review my 2007 Fair Food Consumption Summary. Here are the verging-on-embarrassing details:
8 marinated olive samples
6 Diet Pepsis
4 frozen lemonades (varying flavors)
4 ears of corn on the cob
3 ice cream cones
3 marinated garlic samples
3 varieties of beef jerky samples
2 chocolate covered strawberry kabobs
2 elephant ears
2 orders of french fries
2 orders of fried green tomatoes
2 Tums
1 order of onion rings
1 bag of white cheddar popcorn
1 bowl of jambalaya
1 order of yakisoba noodles
1 order Pad Thai noodles
1 taco salad
1 German chicken sandwich
1 Onion-aire burger
1 German sausage
1 bottled water
1 plastic cup of wine
1 piece of peanut butter fudge
1 funnel cake
1 rope of red licorice
Truly, I was expecting much worse. Nevertheless, I'm getting revved up to eat healthier (read: diet). So, much to Rob's horror, it's time to break out the Tabasco and cayenne cuz I'm gonna start cooking again!

But keep in mind, Toni, that the diet pepsis surely made you lose weight -- zero calories, and all that caffeine speeds up your metabolism! And wine is health food nowadays. Sounds like an excellent diet to me!
Cara (who'd love to try an elephant ear someday)
Excellent point. That would explain the other 4 pounds I didn't gain. And I am indeed extraordinarily healthy in my HDL thanks to my wine consumption.
Next year's fair is already posted as being Aug 1-10. Plan a visit and we'll get you a pair of elephant ears!
Toni (counting the days 'til next year's feast)
Interesting to know.
