Rob and I are on a cruise right now for the first time ever. It's quite an event since I'm mostly afraid of water.
We've been on the ship for about a day and a half now. We are currently going 15.3 knots north towards Ketchikan, Alaska. Strong gale winds, rough high seas at 7.5-12 feet. All this courtesy of Channel 38. What it really means is I am very grateful for some Magic Pills they were handing out at the front desk this afternoon. I'm feeling fine now, thanks to the Magic. The rocking and rolling now feels more like persistent earthquake aftershocks and thankfully less like the Fun House at a parking lot carnival.
I was under the full effect of the Magic Pills in time for dinner. And thank goodness For without them I'm certain I wouldn't have found our dinner partners nearly as amusing. They were from Utah by way of Iowa and seemed most energized when speaking about their hobby of performing puppet shows of classic children's stories. There was quite a discussion about the challenges of having a marionette grow a nose for their recent “Pinocchio” production.
Folks, I couldn't make up stuff like that if I tried.
Tomorrow we get to get off the ship and onto something less sway-y, at least for a few hours. The next few days will happily be in more protected, calmer waters...but I have some more Magic at the ready just in case.

Wow, an Alaksan cruise as your first cruise?! Every other cruise may be a disappointment after that.
Have fun and share pix when you get back!
