Wouldn't Juneau...

This sea leg thing is very weird.

After several days spent almost entirely on a large, occasionally swaying Dutch cruise ship, it seems Rob and I have both unknowingly gotten very used to walking around slightly off balance. And no, it's not due to our wine consumption cuz have you seen the prices of wine on a cruise ship?? You'd think they were selling premium gasoline by the shot.

Our acclimation to sea faring became clear when we walked about Juneau yesterday morning, destination the State Capitol Building. We took a tour guided by the rather blasé page-like Ashley. As she pointed out the abundant use of marble intermixed with the stone columns, I wondered how such a seemingly sturdy building could be swaying so much. A quick look at the overhead light fixtures as well as the calm faces of my fanny-packed cohorts suggested that we weren't experiencing an earthquake. I asked Rob -- who also had not had a spiked drink at breakfast -- if he also felt the marble was spinning around us a bit. Much relieved that he wasn't the only one, we steadied ourselves on the handrails as we walked around the House and Senate. Naturally, by day's end we were feeling much more grounded...just in time to set sail yet again.

Ah Juneau...I hope you stopped swaying long enough to enjoy the Red Dog Saloon~and no, the Magic Pills are not making you see things...the floors really are sawdust!

Enjoy the rest of the trip, now that you'll be on land!
