County Fair Encore! Day 1

It's that time again!! I have purposely cut back a bit on my food intake the past several days in order to leave a little more room to squeeze in every last morsel of County Fair Goodness.

Dedicated blog readers may remember my love for the county fair and my particular dedication to eating my way through it. As Rob says, everything in moderation including moderation. Fair is the 10 days a year I pay absolutely no attention to the healthfulness or nutritional statistics of my snacking. This will become indigestion-inducingly apparent to readers in the days to come.

Today was a long day full of fun, food, animals, and lots of screaming kids. So, the recap won't be as energetic as I would like. We're going back to the fair in less than 10 hours, so I must get some rest and make some room in my hollow leg. So here's today's recap on Fun and Food, plus my favorite photo from the day's adventures.

FUN
  • Cheesecake judging contest (Barbara got robbed)
  • Chicken dress-up contest
  • Duck racing
  • Realizing we know the grand prize quilter
  • Viewing two litters of piglets less than 3 days old
  • Bending the ear of a Fair Official to make our plea for a cost-effective All-Fair Pass
FOOD
  • Corn on the cob
  • BBQ Beef Sandwich
  • Margarita flavored frozen lemonade
  • Habanero Teriyaki beef jerky sample
  • Vanilla and chocolate swirl soft-serve ice cream
