What am I supposed to do with THIS?

I stared at my TV in disbelief this morning. It was the 7 day local forecast. It’s late January here in the Portland area and there were seven happy little sunshines all lined up across my screen. No sign of rain, no sign of snow, barely a sign of wispy little clouds. We didn’t have it this good last year in Kauai, for pete’s sake – whoever Pete is. I just don’t get it. And frankly, I’m a bit miffed.

I have a whole list in my Pilot called “Indoor Projects.” If you know me, you know I am not kidding. In fact, you probably suspect the list is alphabetized. And you might be right. In any case, I had big plans for the winter. BIG PLANS. Closets to organize, files to purge, papers to shred, walls to paint, bookshelves to adapt to the Dewey Decimal System. But now the sun’s going to be out, for days on end. I’m utterly unprepared.

Here in the Land of the Webbed Footed People, I’ve learned to embrace the sun when I see it, not waste the day away inside wearing shorts like I used to in California, arrogantly knowing the sunny goodness would be there again the next day. No, next week is going to be bright and shiny so I must frolic. I must find something bare root and plant it, I must walk to visit my favorite cow, I must squint, I must… Good gracious, I don’t have an “Outdoor Project” list started yet. So utterly, woefully unprepared.

For Canadians this is sunbathing weather! I can't believe you don't have outdoor projects logged in your pilot, geez.
